nail hacks

There’s just something about having your nails done that make you feel like a brand new person! Nice nails = happy self!

Taking care of your nails can be tedious and time-consuming, but there are various nail hacks you can take advantage of!

Below are 7 nail hacks that will make your life easier and your nails fabulous!

1. Prevent over-polishing with vaseline.

If coloring in-between the lines is not your thing, petroleum jelly, such as Vaseline, will be your new best friend. Take a small amount of petroleum jelly on a q-tip and rub it around the perimeter of your nail bed. Be sure to avoid getting any jelly on your actual nail. This will act as a barrier between your skin and the nail polish. Color away!

2. Dip your wet nails in ice cold water to help them cool faster.

This age-old nail hack can save you a lot of drying time. After painting your nails, soak your nails in ice cold water for 3 to 5 minutes. This will accelerate the drying process and help harden the top layer of nail polish.

3. Use band-aids to get the perfect French tip.

Bandaids are not limited to covering up boo-boos — they are an extremely useful French manicure tool! Lay the end of a bandaid vertically on your fingers to outline the perfectly-shaped French manicure line. Do one hand at a time to make things easier on yourself and carefully remove the bandaids when you are done. Voila! Who knew bandaids were all you needed for a great French mani?

4. Use toothpaste and a toothbrush to remove nail polish stains.

Another household item, toothpaste, can be used to brighten and whiten your nails. Do you ever get nail stains or that yellow tint after wearing polish for too long? Letting toothpaste sit on your nails for ten minutes and then scrubbing the toothpaste off with a toothbrush will considerably clean up your nails.

5. Rub nails with distilled vinegar to make polish last longer.

Wiping your nails with distilled vinegar before you apply polish will cause it to stick better to the nail and chip less. The vinegar removes any product buildup and natural nail oils, offering a cleanser palette for the polish to be applied.

6. Use a bobby pin or tooth pick for nail art.

Save money on nail tools by using what you already have in your home! To enhance the nail art of your manicure or pedicure, use a bobby pin or toothpick for fun and easy designs. Let your creative side explore!

7. Unscrew a tight nail polish lid with a rubber band.

Have you ever exerted way too much energy on opening a nail polish bottle? Tying a rubber band around the top of a nail polish bottle will give you the extra grip to open it with less effort.
